CJAE 50: My Favorite Feud – Piper vs. Flair

Holy CRAP, we made it to Episode 50!  To celebrate, Captain Jack (@JackHeartless) brings back My Favorite Feud with the assistance of this week’s guest, @ComicBlackBook co-owner and host of Your Mom’s Basement, Kirk McPherson (@KirkLikesStuff).  Kirk chooses the sprawling, on-again-off-again rivalry between “Nature Boy” Ric Flair and “Rowdy” Roddy Piper as his favorite, so in true CJAE fashion, a deep dive of the timeline ensues, from their first match against one another in 1973, all the way to their last match together, as teammates, in 2006.  There are plenty of twists and turns along the way, as they talk about the rise of each performer independently of the other, how the feud would re-ignite across different decades and territories, and what makes their bond inside and outside of the ring so unforgettable.

Opening theme by Lemi and the Captain.

Closing theme by Ayumi Nakamura (@ayumi_nakamura).

Captain Jack’s Armbar Emporium Ep. 45: Season’s Beatings!

Captain Jack (@JackHeartless) & returning guest host David Hayes (@Davie06) aren’t usually big on holiday spirit.  However… In the history of pro wrestling, one Christmas moment outshines all others before or since:

The moment when “Rowdy” Roddy Piper beat the crap out of Bobby “The Brain” Heenan on Prime Time Wrestling for spilling the beans on national television about Santa Claus.

Join us and watch along at https://youtu.be/D-glMnGMFOA, as we cover the Christmas Day ’89 edition of Prime Time in its entirety and crack wise the whole way.  It sure beats the hell out of watching a burning log!

Captain Jack’s Armbar Emporium Ep. 38: Halloween Havoc 2017!

Captain Jack (@JackHeartless) is back with a special bonus episode, as he interviews Ted from the vintage pro wrestling merch website and Instagram, (@wrestling4sale).  They talk about his early memories as a fan, what drew him to collecting and selling vintage merchandise from WWF, WCW and more, and the holy grail items in his impressive personal treasury.

They also drop the details on the Wrestling4Sale Pop Up Shop on October 21-22, only at Meltdown Comics in Los Angeles, and why everyone should try and stop in; if you’ve ever wanted to set foot in a store with wall-to-wall wrestling merchandise, this is the event for you.  Bring your wallets, maaaan!

Opening theme by Lemi and the Captain.

Captain Jack’s Armbar Emporium Ep. 36: Humanoids for Heenan!

David Hayes (@davie06) returns to join Captain Jack Heartless (@JackHeartless) LIVE in studio this week.  They talk about the mass exodus from WhatCulture, and by extension, WCPW, the ongoing saga of GFW (or is it Impact?) & Anthem, and Jack closes the book on a longstanding issue, with the help of Wrestling Twitter.

Most importantly, Dave & the Captain pay respect and say farewell to the greatest manager, and arguably the most well-rounded performer in the history of professional wrestling – the Weasel himself, Bobby “The Brain” Heenan.  From the Heenan Family to Bockwinkel vs. Gagne to ruining Christmas for kids on Prime Time Wrestling, they cover a plethora of great memories.

Goodbye, Bobby.  Say hi to Gorilla for us.

Captain Jack’s Armbar Emporium Ep. 30: Tenzan, Come Home

Before we at CJAE start covering the madness of the G1 Climax tournament next week, Captain Jack (@JackHeartless) was talked into doing his first alternate commentary of a PPV.

The problem is, it was a trap!  David Hayes (@Davie06) decided to blindside the Captain with the all-time wrestlecrap classic, WWA Revolution.

“Highlights” include Jeremy Borash, boy-band edition; Mark Madden; Tenzan sitting at ringside unannounced and STILL being the best wrestler in the building; young AJ Styles; Eddie Guerrero wrestling like a man possessed; the horror that is Disco Inferno on commentary; and the unexpected save by Scott Steiner as he forcibly removed Disco from commentary.
