Podcast Episode 438: Surf Sex Shop

It is the calm before the storm in WWE. While a lot of matches have been announced for WrestleMania, we can’t seem to wrap our heads around the card. Don’t get us wrong.. We are excited for at least a couple of matches, but there’s something that just isn’t sitting right with us… brother.

We’ll get into that, and a whole lot more. No matter what happens, there’s a lot happening in pro wrestling over the next couple of weeks. Hopefully, this will be the final (mostly) virtual Mania week we’ll ever have to endure. We truly miss running amok in the host city with all of y’all!

Podcast Episode 437: Lumpy Pay-Per-Views

Wednesday night is Women’s Night! Thank you to Thunder Rosa and Dr. Britt Baker for the (deep breath, this is a mouthful) Unsanctioned Anything Goes Lights Out Match (phew) that headlined AEW’s St. Patrick’s Day Slam on AEW Dynamite. It was a match that will undoubtedly live on as a standout in wrestling history. The whole show, though, was packed from start to finish with excellent wrestling action AND storyline progression. It really seems as if AEW is the (current) winner of the Wednesday Night War.

Meanwhile, on WWE programming.. WrestleMania matches are being announced right and left! But let’s pump the brakes a bit. We’ve got WWE Fastlane this Sunday! In this podcast, we make a point to break down the card, talk about potential winners, and well.. gripe about why Andrade STILL isn’t being featured.

All this, and much more! Be sure to share your #WinnerOfTheWeek with us on all of social media!

Podcast Episode 436: ¡Revolución!

AND I KILLED MARKO STUNT TOO

Hello and welcome to Monday Night Hurt Business! And brother, business is a-booming!

First of all, congrats to Bob Lashley and really the entire Hurt Business, they are holding all the gold, but for how long?

Moving on to AEW, the Revolution was televised, and everyone will remember the end. It sucks that people are going to really hang on the ‘botch’ because this was the first time a lot of American wrestling fans experienced an exploding barbed wire deathmatch. The bar was set in the middle. Let’s see another one.

This year’s Revolution PPV introduced a lot of new talent, personalities, and matches to the fans. We have an appreciation for that. With that established, we also hope to see more development and growth.

In conclusion, we really just want more Maki Itoh.

Podcast Episode 434: Apples for Abs

Happy Black History Month and happy post-Royal Rumble, all! And what a week wrestling it has been, bayyyyybeeee! Edge is back and has the opportunity to face a champion at WrestleMania. Bianca Belair is the first black woman to win the Women’s Royal Rumble, and we couldn’t be prouder of her!

Welcome to AEW Beach Break, everyone. Put on your sunscreen because this was a hot show. Jericho and MJF came out of it with a tag team shot at Revolution despite the Inner Circle seeming to be spinning out of control at the moment. The main event of this show was hype AF. Ultimately, the Bullet Club came out as the big winner. They won all of it. ALL OF IT. Who’d have thought we’d see KENTA destroy Jon Moxley in AEW in 2021? The portal has been opened. The Stargate has been activated. And we are HERE FOR IT.

Featuring: ‘The Mayor of Reseda’ Derek (@cap_kaveman), ‘The NeoEcks’ David Valencia (@theneoecks), & Joshua Schlag (@thesteelcage / @schlizzag), and Mega Ran (@MegaRan)

New Japan Returns with New Japan Cup 2020!

NJPW Cup 2020 logo

The New Japan Cup 2020 bracket has been revealed.

It has been over three months now since New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW) put on a wrestling event, and quite frankly, I have missed it very much. But no longer! NJPW has returned with the Together Project Special and The New Japan Cup 2020! I am very excited about this!

The six-match Together Project Special card was a very exciting and much-anticipated event. The event has now passed; however, I encourage all of you to try and watch that. It is missing some NJPW stars, primarily from Bullet Club, but all the hits were there. And by hits, I mean Los Ingobernables De Japon vs CHAOS in the main event! PURO FUEGO!

Now on to the New Japan Cup 2020. This tournament I already know is going to be special. For the first time ever, there will be junior heavyweights competing in this tournament! This tournament will have 32 entrants, and of that 32, 13 will come from the junior heavyweight division. This tournament can really blur the lines between the junior and heavyweight divisions. After examining the bracket, it is a healthy mix of the weight classes, for example, Ishii vs El Desperado, that is a great mix! I am pulling for Ishii, but I hope it elevates El Desperado to another level.

The winner of the New Japan Cup will have a match against the IWGP Heavyweight and Intercontinental Champion, Tetsuya Naito, at Dominion July 12. Be sure to stay tuned to The Steel Cage for more coverage of the New Japan Cup 2020.
