Podcast Episode 302.5: Ultima Lucha Tres

In the summer of 2016, Derek and Josh made a pilgrimage to Boyle Heights, California, to visit Lucha Underground’s Temple. It is exactly as you’d expect – a warehouse in the midst of an industrial district. A taco truck sat outside, as Believers gathered to worship the extreme violence of lucha libre.

The event took two days to record, and aired over the past four weeks on the El Rey Network. A LOT of amazing things happened, from a MOTY (2016? 2017?) candidate in Hell of War to a fantastic championship match to top it all off.

Featuring: Joshua Schlag (@thesteelcage / @schlizzag) and ‘The Mayor of Reseda’ Derek (@cap_kaveman).

Podcast Episode 302: TLC 2017 Preview

Tables, Ladders, and Chairs is this weekend! …and boy, does it seem underwhelming. That said, we’ll be tuning in (so you don’t have to) and we’ll report back next week with just how bad The Demon vs Sister Abigail turns out to be.

We’re also quite interested in seeing how long they’ll let Brock Lesnar laugh without any dialog on cable TV when he responds to Jinder Mahal’s challenge.

Yep, it’s one of those weeks, folks.

Featuring: ‘Super Jew’ Jared (@SuperJew75), Joshua Schlag (@thesteelcage / @schlizzag), and ‘The Mayor of Reseda’ Derek (@cap_kaveman).

Derek and Tim Eat Snacks Ep. 11: ¡LUCHA GRANDE NERDS!

On this edition of the DATEScast, Tim delivers a Halloween snack home run as he brings a new bold and exciting candy to the table, Lucha Grande Nerds in Guava & Mango Chile and Laffy Taffy in Guava & Pineapple. The Lucha Nerds won the 2017 National Confectioners Association Most Innovative New Product in the Sweet Snacks category, so of course our certified snackologists had to put it through the official PER system of snack ratings. Will the candy live up to the hype of Tim storing it for months in his home? Will Derek’s hatred for cooked pineapple get in the way of his snack rating? And most importantly, will the jokes on the Laffy Taffy wrappers from acclaimed Hispanic comedian Anjelah Johnson deliver?

The following lucha is scheduled for one fall…

Featuring: Derek Montilla (@cap_kaveman) & Tim Agne (@timagne)

Music by: Polly Hall & Andrew Barkan, and The Tri-Lambs & Omega Mu

Unfunny Nerd Tangent 31: Rick & Morty

For Episode 31 (C-137), Unfunny Nerd Tangent whipped out the portal gun and crossed the multiverse to bring you an entire show devoted to everyone’s favorite nihilistic, intellectual grandpa and his nervous little grandson: Rick & Morty.

Just like the wait between Seasons 2 & 3, we lingered entirely too long on the topic of the Mulan Szechuan Sauce debacle of 2017, but we did manage to definitively rank the Top 7 episodes of this groundbreaking animated show.

The Big Giant Head in the sky once said, “SHOW US WHAT YOU GOT.”

And we listened.

By the way, yes, we realize there’s a parallel universe where we didn’t do this show and instead covered… I don’t know, Futurama or something. But until then…

Get Schwifty with UNT 31: Rick & Morty.

Hosted by: ‘Captain Boomerang’ Greig Tansley (@GreigT13)

Featuring: ‘SuperJew’ Jared Robinovitz (@superjew75), ‘Evil Morty’ Tim Agne (@timagne), ‘The Gazorpazorp from the Middle East’ Darrell Johnson (@zazzumplop), ‘Mayor of Reseda’ Derek Montilla (@cap_kaveman) and ‘Mr PoopyButthole’ Mateo Morales (@matt_morales).

Music by: Ryan Elder & Justin Roiland.
